25 Hairstyle Ideas

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Here are 25 Hairstyle ideas with step-by-step graphic instructions for all your occasions. Many including multiple photos to provide examples of how to wear the hairstyle slightly different to fit ALL your occasions! You can pin each of these ideas on Pinterest, Click here to go to my page.

1. Wavy Hair

This wavy hair style is a step up from the crimped hair and a little more formal way than sleeping in a French braid. This is the ultimate summer hair style with it lasting until your next hair wash! Many of my other hairstyle ideas below would look great starting with this textured "natural" styling technique. I have included a graphic tutorial below.

2. Baby Braids

Whether your hair is up, down or half up and down, adding these baby or micro braids are a fun touch especially for spring and summer creating an effortless look.

3. Part Play

We all need to switch it up and an easy way to completely change a look, is playing with your part. Whether you do no part or the trendy middle part, it is sure to shape your face different and give you a new perspective. You can find my "Part Play" tutorial linked here, including the 3 parts featured below and more!

4. High Messy Bun

Wearing a dress or a swimsuit? A high messy bun is the answer. It's a playful way to keep you cool and add to your look.

5. Half Ups

Whether you are using a claw clip, scrunchy or hair tie, a half up hair do is a classy way to keep your hair semi out of your face while keeping majority down and flowing beautifully.

6. Baby Twists

Take me to the year 2000! Baby twists are a fun, flirty touch to add to your hair when you need your hair to hold its own. Find a more in-depth tutorial here.

7. Half Up with Claw Clip Bun

I often put my hair in a half up or a claw clip bun but, I find mixing the two is a super fun way to keep it fresh and new!

Check out this second option that is especially great for shorter or curly hairstyles.

8. Bang Tuck

Tucking your bangs or front pieces, depending on your hair is a super simple detail that can really make a difference. If your bangs are too short, try using a bobby pin instead of a rubber band.

9. Add Accessories

You don't have time? Accessory. Greasy hair day? Accessory. Need our bangs out of your face? Accessory Just want to add a little detail? Again, accessories are there for you! Some ideas are, ball caps, sunglasses, headbands, bandanas, cowboy hats, beanie, bow/ ribbon, etc. My current fav is wearing sunglasses like a headband to tuck my hair away.

10. Half Up with a bun

We have seen half ups and half ups with claw clip buns but this needs no claw clip accessory. I love to do this hairdo when I have a simple outfit on and need something to add. I love that it works so well whether your hair is straight, natural, wavy or curled.

First Way: Under Tuck
Second Way: Over Tuck

11. Blow out

My #1 hairstyling technique right now is a blow out! A blow out is such a classy yet sexy hairstyle that looks good no matter how much it falls out.

See my curling iron "blowout" tutorial below using a 1-1/4" barel or watch the full video here!

12. Sleek Braid

Forget the military bun, this is the perfect dirty hair do. It is great if you want to add oils and conditioning to your roots to wear all day. My favorite part is the loose messy look in the back while keeping it completely off your neck.

13. Claw Clip Bun

A claw clip bun alone is 10 hair styles when you can adjust where you put it, how slick or messy you pull it back and how many hair strands in the front you leave or don't leave out. Change up the color of clip and that alone completely changes the look! See my favorite way to wear it in the graphic tutorial below.

14. Cowgirl Braids

With the rise of cowboy hats, we are in need of hairdos that are low and cute, enter the cowgirl braids/ braided pigtails! Watch the full video here and pin it for later so you don't forget!

15. Slick Pony

We might change the height and the pony style, but the sleek pony will always be in style! This is such an easy low skill hair style. I have linked products below to make your pony smooth as can be!

16. Low Bun

Loose Vs Tight a low bun might be one hairstyle, but it can turn out extremely different depending on how much care you put into it, but regardless of it will always turn out cute!

* Each photo above uses the same bun technique as shown below, loosen and pull as needed

17. Sleek Straight Hair

With the rise of wolf cuts, layers and bangs, blowouts and waves are all the rage but don't underestimate how much a dead straight hairstyle can show off a cut and color. This is such a cute style for a night out or in.

18. Bubble Braid

You were thinking something different... well here you are. This is a hairdo that has been created within the past few years. It is a fun twist on a braid but holds together very well with a rubber band on every link. Click here for video Tutorial.

19. High Pony

It's basic, I get that. I have the high pony listed here because I always forget about it! It can be such a flirty hair style and in 2023 I want to see more high ponies!

20. Baby Bubble

Bring the bubble back! 2009 was peak bubble and I mostly wore this style secured with two bobby pins criss crossed, but this time around securing your hair with a rubber band keeps it poofy and flirty and exactly how we want! Watch my tutorial here on Pinterest.

21. Low Loose Pony

Your hair isn't dirty, you just need a cute easy pulled back style, a loose pony is your man. You could even elevate it with a scrunchy or wrap your hair around the hair tie. If you have bangs you need out of your face, don't write off the loose pony quite yet just add a cute braid or two!

22. Soft Beach Waves

Soft curls are effortless and beautiful, a great style for any hair!

23. French Braid

Are you finished with the pilgrim jokes? This hair is so cottage core. This hair style is Lana Del Rey running through a field and having a picnic. It'd been years since I had done a French braid but it's knocking on my heart for spring.

24. Two Half Ups

Think young, think 90s, think Britney. Two Half Ups + a soft blow out = <3

25. Your Natual Hair

I want to end with a reminder, that you don't always have to do hair, your natural hair, whatever it is, is beautiful.

I hope that you found something out of these 25 (+ because there are so many examples for each style) that you love! Each of these photos are on Pinterest! You can find me on all social media sites @thegoldmoss and I post consistently on Pinterest for more ideas not just hair but, photoshoots, fashion, makeup, date ideas, etc. and don't forget to follow along right here on the blog!
